The international documentary film festival One World is the flagship of the People in Need organization. We are the biggest and oldest documentary event in Slovakia.

OUR AMBITION IS TO BRING WORLD QUALITY IN DOCUMENTARY MOVIES

The quality for everyone, regardless of gender, race, age, social status, and health. We want to bring people closer to the complex relationships, connections of societies, countries, cultures, history, climate change and economies in the globalized world. We want everyone to leave One World with an open mind, with new perspectives, and enriched with artistic experiences. We have been doing this professionally, transparently, and fearlessly for more than 20 years.

ENJOY ONE WORLD IN CINEMAS AND ONLINE

Every year, One World brings feature-length documentaries from all over the world, short-length documentary movies, and the competition section Slovakia & Czech Republic For Human Rights to cinemas and to the online environment throughout Slovakia. The intention of this section is to support domestic and neighboring documentary production. This work uncompromisingly reflects the complex present, which changes constantly and rapidly.

In addition to the main program, movie screenings are also held in secondary schools. Regions and small communities throughout Slovakia are also part of the One World. From 2021, we offer film professionals a unique Industry Program focused on the social impact of movies – Dni zmeny.
